Words and Wisps: Building in Private and Repetition as Iteration
Even if it’s been done before, do it again, do it better, do it your way.
Words and Wisps is a personal ritual and reminder to write weekly and assemble monthly. Stitching together photos and handwritten notes to create a space for slow scrolling, minimal hyperlinking, and thinking through ink. This is evolving and experimental in nature and I welcome your thoughts as you read along.
Reminder
If you've ever dismissed your ideas as obvious or overdone, remember that there are 400 million and counting search results on how to make fried eggs—a dish whose name doubles as instructions. Even if it's been done before, do it again, do it better, do it your way.
Building in Private
I had forgotten how many interesting people are doing impactful things, outside and offline. They tread lightly on the plane of fiber optics without giving in to its ire and optics. Digital footprints, undetected. I had forgotten that great work exists, whether or not you’ve shared it online. I am remembering that you can still shine in silence and solitude. In your own rhythm and time.
Where the Wifi is Weak
From the base of a blue lake up to a green one. Seek places, not people, that make you feel small.
Heat Wave
The heat wave rolled in and held its shape like a hook. Its curved tips clamped around Sunday and clung on til Saturday as the month unfurled into four neat strips of velcro. The heat warnings scrolled across the bottom of the television screen in lowercase so as not to raise any alarms. So as not to outshine the drought, wildfires, and failed crops in its wake. Inside a lone cubicle, a shawl is pulled tighter and a steaming cup of tea is drawn closer against the chill of the office air conditioner.
